ok this one came from Martin Kwok via Hayden (cheers!)

hold down Control+Option+Apple then use Left or Right Arrow keys:
allows u to toggle all tracks between Waveform - Blocks - Mute - Volume - Pan.

Drop the Option key to do it for a single track.

i didn't know that shortcut, but one that I do use often is
Control Option minus
which toggles between displaying all volume graphs and all waveforms...
In fact I use it so much i've assigned it to the F1 key using Quickeys!

I knew cmd D duplicates a region to the right, or after itself

but if you hold down
'control-option-command' and click on a region
it duplicates it to the left, or before the region!

cmd+opt+1, 2, 3 or 4 on the numeric keypad toggles between each of the 4 A/Z macros.

ie...

cmd + opt 1 activates fast keys
cmd + opt 2 activates audio playlist
cmd + opt 3 activates midi region list
cmd + opt 4 activates groups

of course the two of you using PT on a PC will have to come up with your solution :D

and if you only hold down cmd+opt and click on the region it moves it backwards by it's region length (probably useless but fun none the less)

another handy shortcut courtesy of david

to change the track height on a single track
control - up arrow (shifts track height up a level)
control - down arrow (shifts height down a level)

if u also hold down option applies to all tracks

re ProTools shortcuts I also use Quickeys for scripting between ProTools
and other applications eg I do my FX listing in a Filemaker Pro database
so I have a short cut which copies the current PT timecode location,
switches to FileMaker, creates a new record & pastes the timecode value
into the timecode cue field in the database....

I also have one that does the reverse
ie copies a timecode from Filemaker database
switches back to ProTools, locates to the copied timecode position
creates a marker, switches back to Filemaker, copies the description,
switches back to PT and pastes the description into the marker text

I'll do anything to avoid manually entering timecode values
especially when listing FX...

but lordy i wish ProTools was applescriptable!!!
it would make this sort of thing much easier

Not to be confused of course with Control-Option plus and minus on the numeric pad for Grid up/down. I use that one alot.

aye, same here Chris!

in fact, along with it theres four that i use really very often

Option +/- trims region start (by nudge amount)
Cmd +/- trims region end (by nudge amount)
Cmd Opt +/- change nudge amount (quarter frame-1 frame-5 frames-1 second)
Cntrl +/- nudges data within region, without altering start/end times

this last one is really handy when cutting atmospheres - cut the start & end
and then nudge the data within the region until its how u want it...

Also it seems lots of people i talk to dont realise you can base the Grid on
your own custom marker settings! If you check the grid settings, futher
down the list there is an option for Regions/Markers
so for a complex scene u can drop markers on all the hit points
and then whenever u are syncing or trimming in Grid mode
it will snap to your markers & other regions....

I assume that most of Pro tools users started with that one, but i discovered it by mistake yesterday.

The basic one were hidden under my nose

page up
page down
home
end

I can finally scroll my page up and down easier. Just until i'll buy the mighty mouse...

sheesh... bit messy to look at if you have "draw grids in edit window" checked. looks like a tempo grid for free form jazz!

Ps : do you still live in your parents house ?

Seriously now, thank you, a lot of my belgium friends are still searching for this one, they are going to be happy, very happy, thanks also for them.

When i first heard about the magnificent landscape of nz, when i started to dream in front of these wonderful photos, i decide to come to discover : hear, see, touch, smell and taste the country.

And i am not disapointed, my nz room don't have the same color, noise, floor...as my belgium one...it's so different, i just can't believe it. Even my screen saver has changed ;-)

I fully understand the room phenomenon
